What can listeners expect from your new single "The Manger": We are releasing a new single entitled "The Manger" featuring Grammy award winner and R&B artist Chrisette Michele. It is an original song written by Sean Simonds. The song will be released on IndieBlu Music and Entertainment One Nashville label. The listeners can expect a Gospel choir track with Jazz and R&B influences. It is a beautiful holiday song. It is a special moment for the choir and myself as I have always wanted to work with Chrisette Michele. When she and her team agreed to be our guest lead vocalist a year and a half ago I was so excited and honored. I cannot wait for everyone to hear it. We have released two other Christmas singles last year as well. "The Best Gift" and "I Believe in Miracles" featuring Patricia Shirley. Both singles can be found on your favorite digital platforms. How has this differed from creating a non holiday track? The process for me is that I have to listen to Christmas music all year around to find inspiration. Because Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, I want to make sure I capture and present songs that reflect how I feel about the holidays. I reach out to my producers and advise them this is what I am looking for in a song, can you create something like this? In a few weeks or months my producer comes back with the rough demo. We start to build and record the vocals from there. I am in the process of creating a demo for a new Christmas song. I have someone in mind to guest lead the song and I hope their team and the artist would be interested in being a part of this. The goal is to release a full Christmas album this year but due to pandemic plans have changed. Hopefully by 2022 we will have a full Christmas project. And since this is a Christmas blog, Maybe share a fun Christmas memory or just something that really gives you the Holiday feels I have many amazing Christmas memories. Seeing my son opening up his gifts on Christmas morning and spending time with family during the holidays. For me growing up in Scarborough, It was so exciting for my brothers and I to wake up at 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning on Christmas day. My parents would play the Bonny M Christmas record and Mini Pops Christmas record or A Very Special Christmas albums while opening our gifts. I was into He Man and the Masters of the Universe back then so getting any toy from that brand was awesome. One moment that sticks out for me is when I was around 11 or 12 years old. My choir at the time had 10 choir members (including my two brothers). I managed to purchase Christmas gifts for every choir member. I presented the gifts to them at church and they were so surprised and happy. I was able to purchase the gifts for them as I saved up my money from working a paper route and my church during the holidays used to work at the Malls gift wrapping gifts for customers. It was one way for our church to raise funds for our own building. The mothers of the church would take shifts and my brothers and I would tag along with my mom. It was perfect for me to target the toy stores and make my purchase. It is a great feeling to give and expect nothing in return.
